Jeremy Metz
Jeremy Metz began his career in the fire service in 1992 when he served in the Colorado Air National Guard as a firefighter and EMT. He graduated from St. Anthony's paramedic program in 1996 and began his career with West Metro Fire Rescue in 1998. At West Metro, he has held several positions, including firefighter/paramedic technician, special teams captain, district chief, and Division Chief for Emergency Medical Services prior to being appointed to Deputy Chief of Administration in 2021.
Chief Metz has been the chair of the National Fire Protection Association's (NFPA) Technical Committee on Special Protective Clothing and Equipment since 2013. He is the co-chair of the Benefits Strategic Planning Team (SPT) and the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)/Uniform SPT for the District. He is also a committee member of the Colorado Firefighter's Behavioral Health Trust.
Chief Metz is a graduate of the National Fire Academy's (NFA) Executive Fire Officer (EFO) program and has earned the Chief Fire Officer (CFO) credential from the Center for Public Safety Excellence (CPSE).
In 2005, he received an Associates of Applied Science in Fire Science from Red Rocks Community College. In 2008, he earned a Bachelor of Science degrees in Fire and Emergency Services Administration from Colorado State University. And, in 2012, he received a Master of Public Administration from Columbia Southern University.
