West Metro celebrated the opening of its new, state of the art Fleet Maintenance Facility during the Fall of 2000. All fire vehicles and staff cars are routinely checked to ensure they are in top condition for emergency responses.
West Metro Fire Rescue's Emergency Vehicle Maintenance Facility provides state of the art equipment and experienced mechanics to service your emergency services vehicle. The new 20,000 square foot facility is conveniently located in Jefferson County, with easy access to C-470, SH285, 6th Ave, and I-70. This large, state-of-the-art facility can accommodate up to 16 pieces of apparatus at one time inside its eight 65 x 22 foot bays. In 2001, the shop will have its own pump testing facility. West Metro has complete record-keeping system and we handle our own billing to make payment easier. Five ASE/EVT Certified Technicians are experienced with all makes and models of emergency vehicles. West Metro is available to provide fleet maintenance services to other agencies through a flat or contracted rate. The flat hourly rate is $98/hour, plus parts.
The maintenance crew also has the responsibility of fixing apparatus after unusual accidents, such as those that may occur when other cars do not yield the right of way, or freak natural occurrences, like hail storms.
Maintenance sometimes is the quiet hero in the excitement and suspense of emergency rescues, but it is their support that keeps West Metro equipped to do whatever it takes to best serve the community.
