Station Tours
Fire Station Tours are available to Scout Groups, School Groups, Preschool/ Elementary Groups, and other community groups. They are an excellent way to gain first-hand knowledge about the ins an outs of life in a fire station.
Upon arrival visitors are greeted by a "tour guide" (West Metro firefighter). The visit starts inside the station with a peek at where firefighters live and sleep when they are on duty. The visitors see bunk rooms, exercise rooms, living rooms and a kitchen (complete with three refrigerators - one for each shift). Then it's outside to the bay area to see the trucks. They view the inside of a truck and see the headphones firefighters use to communicate as they are driving. They experience the lights and sirens that sound each time the fire truck leaves for an emergency response. Finally, as firefighters show their bunker gear (special clothes worn to protect them from a fire) and dress-up, fully outfitted in bunker gear, visitors learn to recognize a firefighter as a "safe" person who may help them escape from a fire.
Birthday party groups can tour stations, however, we are unable to accommodate birthday parties.
To schedule a station tour call Community Outreach at (303) 989-4307 ext. 506.*
*Please note: The Community Outreach Division requires at least two weeks advance notice to schedule a station tour.
