WMFR Family Fire Muster
Looking for an amazingly fun and FREE family activity? Join us on our new date of Saturday, August 21 for West Metro Fire Rescue's Family Fire Muster. This event, usually held the second Saturday each June (this year the event was postponed due to weather), helps children and their families learn, practice, and play in an outdoor classroom environment. Each year, more than 10,000 people attend the Family Fire Muster. The event is Saturday, August 21, from 9:30 a.m. – 2 p.m. at Red Rocks Community College’s Lakewood Campus (13300 West 6th Ave.). For more information on this FREE family fun for people of all ages, visit the Muster page or call 303-989-4307.
Children of all ages have the opportunity to participate in more than 15 hands-on activities designed to give them the chance to interact with fire fighters while learning valuable life saving lessons. Dressing up as fire fighters in real bunker gear, kids practice their safety and stop, drop, and roll; crawl low under smoke; escape from a smoke-filled home; put on a life jacket and practice water safety; run through a forest with a wildland fire fighter to help put out a forest fire; and much more. Parents can capture the cutest photos and children will remember this event for years to come! Plus, they’ll practice skills to keep them safe from fire or injury!
More than 20 emergency, health, and safety organizations will be on hand to help promote safety and well-being. Check out the list and then check out the event!
